Marathon Strategies’ Meet The Freshmen guide to the 119th Congress is a digestible, nonpartisan overview of the positions taken by incoming members of the House and Senate on a host of key issues that will shape the D.C. political agenda over the next two years — including the economy and jobs; taxes; immigration and border security; foreign policy; crime and public safety; reproductive rights; climate change and energy; health care and the social safety net; democracy; and social issues.
This guide uses publicly available sources, including statements from each candidate’s campaign website, candidate questionnaires, social media posts, debates, interviews, and news reports, to provide a broad overview of where the new members stand on these issues. Photographs of each candidate were obtained through their campaign websites, social media accounts, and elected-office websites.
New members included in this guide are based on races called by The Associated Press, National Election Pool/Edison Research, and the Cook Political Report.
