ON THE ISSUES

REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS:

Brecheen is staunchly pro-life and says he will support any measure in Congress that “protects life.” As a state senator, he supported legislation outlawing “dismemberment abortion.”[v] Brecheen “absolutely” supports “crisis pregnancy centers and faith-based organizations working to assist mothers and newborn children.”[vi]

ECONOMY, JOBS & TAXES:

Brecheen said his first priority in Congress will be to fix inflation.[vii] He argues “the inflation crisis in America is the direct result of the Democrats’ interference in the economy,” and that “the remedy is to stop government’s runaway spending.”[viii] Brecheen has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, committing to oppose any and all tax increases in office.[ix]

HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL SAFETY NET:

Brecheen argues “we must protect Social Security and Medicare,” but does not support raising taxes in order to maintain them.[x] [xi] He commits to fighting for “health freedom for all Oklahomans,” and is endorsed by Oklahomans for Health and Parental Rights, an advocacy group that seeks to educate on “parental rights, health choice, health privacy and informed consent.”[xii] [xiii]

IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY:

Brecheen says the “immigration crisis at the Southern border is a result of decades of misguided policies that neglect border security and disregard the rule of law.” He argues, “we have no idea the terrorists that are coming across, not just the fentanyl.” He supports finishing the southern border wall.[xiv] [xv]

CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY:

Brecheen argues that “the left’s foolish and misguided efforts to defund the police have resulted in skyrocketing crime rates and countless lives shattered by violent crime.” He commits to supporting law enforcement while in office.[xvi]

GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS & ELECTION SECURITY:

Brecheen says he will “work to ensure there is integrity in our elections,” adding that voter ID “is paramount.”[xvii] He supports maintaining the electoral college.[xviii] Brecheen strongly supports term limits, and commits to term limiting himself in the House, as he did in the Oklahoma State Senate.[xix]

EDUCATION:

Brecheen argues “the education of children in America is a parental responsibility,” and that there “should be no federal role in education.” In the state senate, he “led the fight” to repeal Common Core in Oklahoma and supports abolishing the Department of Education.[xx] [xxi] He also introduced bills annually in the state senate to prohibit teaching creationism in public schools.[xxii]

CLIMATE CHANGE, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT:

Brecheen argues “Environmental extremism and the radical cult of climate change are threatening our nation's energy sectors and our economy.”[xxiii] In 2018, he received an F rating on his legislative scorecard by Sierra Club’s Oklahoma chapter.[xxiv]

GUN SAFETY:

Brecheen is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and argues that “if we lose the second amendment, then our first amendment rights will soon fall.”[xxv] He believes there are “too many” gun ownership laws, adding that gun owners are not the problem, “Spoons don't make you fat, and guns don't kill people; people kill people.”[xxvi] His holds an A rating with the NRA and is endorsed by the guns rights group.[xxvii]

FOREIGN POLICY:

Brecheen argues that “military involvement in foreign affairs has become too numerous absent a declaration of war by Congress.” He believes is it “past time for us to reduce our foreign entanglement and focus on the invasion taking place on our southern border.” [xxviii]
