ON THE ISSUES

REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS:

A pro-life Catholic, Shreve believes “we must do all we can to protect human life.”[iv] During his mayoral campaign, Shreve promised not to criminalize doctors for performing abortions.[v]

IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY:

On his campaign website, Shreve advocates for finishing the border wall, reforming the immigration system, ending catch-and-release, and ending fentanyl trafficking.[vi]

ECONOMY & JOBS:

Shreve touts his work to grow his self-storage company and pledges to fight for a balanced budget and reduced “reckless giveaway spending.” He also pledges to “stand up to regulatory overreach,” and to “work to keep our trade and export markets open” to state agricultural producers.[vii]

TAXES:

In April 2024, Shreve signed Americans for Tax Reform’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge, promising to oppose and vote against income tax hikes.[viii]

CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY:

Shreve pledges to “back the blue,” “end soft-on-crime policies and the revolving door of crime,” and “ensure our police have the tools and resources they need,” arguing that “our prosecutors need to prosecute.”[ix]

CLIMATE CHANGE, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT:

While Shreve argued that “we must be good stewards of our environment,” he is not in favor of a Green New Deal. He advocates for lowering energy costs and boosting energy independence, including wind and solar production.[x]

FOREIGN POLICY:

On his campaign website, Shreve argues that “Hamas must be eliminated” and that the U.S. should continue to support Israel in that effort “politically and through continued aid.” He also describes the Chinese Communist Party as a “serious threat to the United States and our national security,” pledging to support legislation that “strengthens our national security, holds China accountable, and advances the United States’ leadership in technology and innovation.”[xi]

HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL SAFETY NET:

While Shreve did not make healthcare a centerpiece of his campaign, he has pledged to work with healthcare leaders to “lower inflated health care costs.”[xii]

DEMOCRACY:

According to the Indiana Democratic Party, Shreve did not condemn the January 6^th attack on the Capitol and gave thousands to the campaigns of elected officials who voted to overturn the election.[xiii]
