CAMPAIGNED ON:

Protecting Our Democracy; Defending Our Freedoms; Fighting For A Fair Deal [iv]

ON THE ISSUES

REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS:

A pro-choice candidate, Goodlander said that she will “fight to restore, defend, and expand our basic freedoms – from the freedom to access the reproductive healthcare you need to the freedom to live as your authentic self.” She helped launch the Reproductive Rights Task Force following the Dobbs decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and she has also promised to “fight like hell to defend access to the full range of reproductive healthcare, including abortion, contraceptives, and IVF.” [v]

IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY:

As a former senior advisor in the U.S. Senate, Goodlander helped write the 2012 immigration reform bill that she said “continues to be the framework for legislation to deliver a fairer immigration system that provides a path to citizenship for those already here, secures our borders, and curbs the flow of fentanyl across our border.” As a member of Congress, Goodlander will “fight to stop fentanyl from flowing into our communities, to bring to justice those who put it there, and to deliver life-saving medication and care across New Hampshire and our nation.” [vi]

ECONOMY & JOBS:

During the campaign, Goodlander stated that she supports collective bargaining rights and raising the minimum wage. She said that she will seek to “restore competition across the American economy and to protect consumers, workers, small businesses, and family farmers across New Hampshire.” Additionally, Goodlander believes that there is “enormous promise” in advancements in artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, which she has contended can help meet challenges “from the climate crisis to deadly diseases like cancer.”

TAXES:

Goodlander has said that she supports creating a tax system that provides “tax breaks for working families,” rather than “handouts to billionaires and big corporation.”

CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY:

According to her campaign website, Goodlander supports legalizing cannabis federally and delivering “meaningful and much-needed criminal justice reforms.” [vii]

CLIMATE CHANGE, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT:

A believer that climate change exists, Goodlander advocates for standing up to “Big Oil” and making “America the world’s clean energy superpower.” To advance “environmental justice,” Goodlander has touted that she helped launch the Justice Department’s Office of Environmental Justice, which she said is “dedicated to protecting overburdened and underserved communities across America from the harm caused by pollution, environmental crimes, and the climate crisis.” In Congress, Goodlander promises to “be on the frontlines of the fight against our climate crisis and work to close the tax loopholes that have allowed Big Oil to make record profits while hardworking people are facing record prices at the pumps.” [viii]

FOREIGN POLICY:

During the campaign, regarding the Israel-Gaza conflict, Goodlander argued that the issue forces the United States to balance national security with the promotion of American values. She supported a ceasefire in the region but did not specify on whether she believed the United States should stop selling arms to Israel. She said on the issue, “The bilateral relationship between the United States and Israel is one that is rooted, not just in a shared history and shared values, but in shared threats to our own national security […] That is the starting premise: That our enemies are Israel’s enemies.” [ix]

HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL SAFETY NET:

In favor of protecting Social Security, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act, Goodlander advocates for expanding access to “affordable healthcare and prescription drugs,” as well as lowering costs of childcare and eldercare. She believes that healthcare is “a right,” including mental healthcare, and she pledged to “fight to make healthcare more affordable and accessible for all Americans, including by taking on big health insurers and Big Pharma.” [x]

DEMOCRACY:

During the campaign, Goodlander argued that “no politician is above the law and that no corporation is above the law.” Her campaign did not accept “corporate PAC money” and she promised to “fight for voting rights, campaign finance reform, fair maps, and critical reforms to ensure accountability across our federal government, including in our federal courts and in Congress where critical reforms to protect our democracy and restore faith in our government are urgently needed.” [xi]

SOCIAL ISSUES:

According to her campaign website, Goodlander will fight “discriminatory laws” and ensure “that no one is targeted because of who they love, how they identify, or the color of their skin.” She said that she will fight against book bans. [xii]
