ON THE ISSUES

REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS:

While serving as House Speaker in the North Carolina General Assembly, Moore worked with Republicans to seek a ban after roughly 12 weeks, with exceptions in cases of rape, incest or fetal abnormality, or when the life of the woman is in danger. Moore said previously that he personally favored a ban on abortions once an ultrasound first detects fetal cardiac activity, typically about six weeks after fertilization.[vi]

IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY:

Moore has called for building the wall at the Southern border. He said in a Facebook post, “I’ve been to the border and witnessed firsthand the disaster Joe Biden has created: overcrowded migrant centers, floods of illegal immigrants pouring in, and no wall. We need to get serious about securing our borders, or else we won’t have a nation soon.”[vii]

ECONOMY & JOBS:

Moore has been critical of President Biden’s economy. In November 2023, he stated, “Joe Biden’s economy just isn’t working for us. Record-high inflation, soaring gas prices, rising grocery bills – it’s not sustainable! When I’m elected to Congress, I’ll help fix the broken economy four years of Joe Biden gave us and support policies that put the American people FIRST again.”[viii]

TAXES:

In June 2024, Moore made a “No New Taxes” promise to voters. He signed the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge committing to oppose and vote against income tax hikes.[ix]

CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY:

Moore has stated that he will always stand by law enforcement officers and received the endorsement of North Carolina Police Benevolent Association.[x] Moore has criticized “soft on crime” policies and called for the government to “enforce our laws” and “stop coddling criminals.”[xi]

CLIMATE CHANGE, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT:

Moore is a proponent of energy independence. In October 2021, he stated, “We have a responsibility to be good stewards of our natural resources while also maintaining low costs for citizens and businesses, and this bill achieves each of those goals. It is absolutely crucial for our state and for our national security that we prioritize energy independence now.”[xii]

FOREIGN POLICY:

Moore has stated that he stands with Israel. In a Facebook post, he stated, “It’s disgusting to see some members of Congress seemingly support Hamas talking points and narratives as Israel remains under attack. Let me be very clear - I will always stand with our great ally Israel and against the radical terrorists who make freedom their enemy.”[xiii]

HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL SAFETY NET:

Moore called the “Biden vaccine mandate” a “shocking invasion of medical privacy.”[xiv]

DEMOCRACY:

Moore has been publicly critical of investigations into and indictments against former-President Trump. In a January 2020 Facebook post, “Hunter Biden is allowed to roam totally free while the Democrats sue, indict, and harass President Trump every day.”[xv]

SOCIAL ISSUES:

Moore campaigned on fighting to stop transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.[xvi] Moore has opposed what he calls a “radical reinterpretation” of Title IX that would allow transgender athletes to compete in sports according to their gender identity.[xvii]
