ON THE ISSUES
REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS:
Fedorchak has voiced support for a federal abortion ban. “I do support a nationwide floor,” Fedorchak said. “Whether the standard is 15 weeks or 16 weeks, or whatever that standard might be, I would support that … as long as states are allowed to go beyond that, if their citizenship decides to do so.” She has said that she wants society to be better equipped to support women who choose to carry their pregnancy to term. [iv] Fedorchak has stated that she hopes to “transform America into a pro-life nation.” [v] She is in favor of abortion exceptions for rape, incest or the life of the mother. [vi]
IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY:
Fedorchak has said that her top focus in Washington will be border security. “I view the border crisis being largely a crisis of neglect,” she said. “We need, not necessarily new ideas, but we need new leadership, and I believe President (Donald) Trump will provide that leadership.” She believes addressing the border crisis will combat drug trafficking and that immigration and visa program changes can help businesses struggling to fill positions. “There are lots of people in this world who want to move to America, so let’s provide an orderly process for that to happen,” she said. “But it starts with securing the border.” [vii]
ECONOMY & JOBS:
Fedorchak wants to prioritize lowering energy costs and decreasing national spending and overall debt. She is critical of the growth of regulatory agencies under the Biden administration. She believes that companies are spending too much time and money working to comply with new regulations. “Just think about that, 300 million hours that they are spending complying with federal regulations rather than trying to make money, trying to increase their wages, trying to employ more people or keep their costs down,” she said. “Those things contribute to inflation as well.” [viii]
TAXES:
Fedorchak has said that she wants to promote a “pro-business, low tax climate paired with grassroots community organizations empowered to serve people.” [ix]
CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY:
Fedorchak has been endorsed by the North Dakota Fraternal Order of the Police. She has stated that “public safety is on the ballot this November,” and called for “leaders who stand with law enforcement.” [x]
CLIMATE CHANGE, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT:
Fedorchak is concerned about shortcomings of the energy grid that could leave the majority of the nation in danger of not having enough power, especially in extreme weather. “The generation capacity is shrinking, and the demand is increasing and that is an unsustainable path,” she said. “There’s no excuse for us running short. We’re going to have storms and we’re going to have outages of course, but not having enough supply to meet demand, that is avoidable and that’s a leadership issue.” Fedorchak believes that increasing power generation would reduce energy costs. She also opposes Environmental Protection Agency regulations that include “greenhouse gas rules that are completely disconnected to science and reality” and does not think car dealerships should be forced to buy electric vehicles via clean energy mandates. [xi]
FOREIGN POLICY:
Fedorchak believes that America should “stand firm” in supporting Israel. “Iran is at the heart of all of this,” she said. “It comes back to a failure of leadership by the Biden administration, who’s been weak on Iran since day one.” Fedorchak supports President-elect Trump’s foreign policy position of “peace through strength.” [xii]
HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL SAFETY NET:
Fedorchak, whose husband is a veteran, has stated that she will prioritize protecting and improving veteran healthcare. She stated in a post on X, “From critical telehealth services to vital mental health programs, I will work with all of ND's veterans, so they have access to the care they earned.” [xiii]
DEMOCRACY:
Fedorchak’s bid for Congress was subject to a disinformation campaign in which text messages were sent to constituents that falsely claimed she dropped out of the race. During a press conference, Fedorchak called for an investigation and stated, “These kinds of tactics cannot be tolerated in this election or for any election.” [xiv]
SOCIAL ISSUES:
Fedorchak has been critical of the participation of transgender female athletes in women’s sports. She stated in a post on X, “If we needed more evidence that men don’t belong in women’s sports the Olympics has provided a powerful one for all the world to see. As an athlete and girl mom this is infuriating. Such a slap to all who have fought for access and fairness in women’s sports.”[xv] The post referred to a controversy in which Algerian female boxer Iman Khelif allegedly failed an unspecified sex eligibility test.
