REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS:
Amo is a proponent of abortion access and has been critical of the Dobbs decision. Amo said in a Facebook post, “Two years ago, right-wing extremists on the Court caused an unmitigated disaster when they ripped away Roe v. Wade protections for women across our country. We must keep calling out Republicans who are hellbent on destroying the right to choose. I will continue to fight so all Americans once again have this freedom and can access reproductive health in every state and every community.” [iv] Amo has called for the restoration of Roe v. Wade and criticized states that have enacted abortion bans. [v]
IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY:
Amo has promoted his office’s ability to assist with individuals’ pending U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services cases. [vi] Amo has also supported a bipartisan government funding package that would deliver critical resources to help meet operational needs at the Southern border. [vii]
ECONOMY & JOBS:
Amo has touted the savings that American seniors have had on health costs due to the Inflation Reduction Act. [viii]
CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY:
Amo praised small business tax relief plans designed by Vice President Kamala Harris. [ix]
CLIMATE CHANGE, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT:
Amo has championed the Inflation Reduction Act’s provisions that allowed the Department of Energy to work towards lower energy bills and a reduction in Rhode Island’s carbon footprint. [x]
FOREIGN POLICY:
Amo has called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, so that the Israeli and Palestinian people can “live safely, with dignity, and in peace.” He also confirmed his commitment to both Israel and a better future. [xi]
HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL SAFETY NET:
Amo has criticized Republican cuts to both Social Security and Medicare. Amo has stated that he is committed to protecting Social Security benefits for seniors. [xii]
DEMOCRACY:
Amo has expressed his support for the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act. He also supports SCOTUS term limits as a way to “restore public faith in the government.” [xiii]
