ON THE ISSUES
REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS:
Goldman is opposed to abortion. He supported the “Texas Heartbeat” bill, which stated that if a heartbeat was detected, then an abortion could not occur. Goldman claims that “at least 35,000 lives” were protected due to the bill. While serving as a state representative, Goldman voted to defund abortion providers and fund alternatives to abortion. He has stated he will “continue to stand for the unborn” while serving in Congress. [vi]
IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY:
Goldman has stated that “rampant, unchecked illegal immigration is an unsustainable burden to American taxpayers who must fund all of the increased costs associated with a porous border: additional law enforcement, health care, and education, not to mention the heartbreak from families subjected to the influx of deadly fentanyl.” He considers immigration to be a “privilege” that should only be reserved for those who respect the legal process. [vii] Goldman has criticized the Biden administration for failing to secure the border and forcing Texas to “spend billions on border security in order to combat a flood of illegals, drug cartels, human trafficking, and an influx of deadly fentanyl.” He plans to work to “force Washington to uphold their duty of securing the border.” [viii]
ECONOMY & JOBS:
Goldman believes government regulations “must be kept at bay so we don’t crush job creators.” He also thinks that the new digital economy, including cryptocurrency, “holds great promise and potential to create another wave of jobs, technological innovation and economic opportunity.” [ix]
TAXES:
Goldman believes that Americans are “overtaxed.” He worked to pass a ban on state income tax and wealth tax as a Texas State representative and has fought to eliminate the Texas franchise tax. Goldman also worked to pass the largest property tax cut in Texas history. [x]
CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY:
Goldman has proposed creating a criminal offense of murder for anyone that supplies fentanyl resulting in someone’s death. He has promised to “keep fighting to track these people down and get them off the streets.” [xi] Goldman has also stated that he will combat “defund the police” radicals “intent on undermining public safety and placing our communities at risk.” Goldman has authored bills to give police better tools to capture sexual predators, stop large cities from defunding their police departments, and combat human trafficking. He also passed legislation to allow “rogue District Attorneys who refuse to enforce laws they disagree with” to be removed from office. [xii]
CLIMATE CHANGE, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT:
Goldman served on the Texas House Energy Resources Committee and has been a proponent of West Texas fuel providers. [xiii] Goldman has also attended meeting to discuss working towards American energy independence and fighting against the Green New Deal. [xiv]
FOREIGN POLICY:
Goldman supports a foreign policy of “peace through strength.” He believes that international threats are escalating and “require America to be prepared.” Goldman has also stated that he is a “strong and unequivocal voice in support of Israel.” He believes the United States must be unwavering in their support of Israel and recognizes “Israel’s right to act decisively and unilaterally in self-defense to protect its citizens.” [xv]
HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL SAFETY NET:
Goldman’s healthcare positions have primarily focused on defunding abortion access and funding alternatives to abortions. [xvi]
DEMOCRACY:
Goldman has authored and passed a bill he says is designed to stop the process of illegal ballot harvesting.” He claims the bill will be the strongest election integrity bill in Texas history, if signed into law. [xvii]
SOCIAL ISSUES:
Goldman has worked to pass legislation that bans gender affirming healthcare for minors. He also voted to prevent transgender women and girls from participating in sports according to their gender identity. Goldman has also voted to ban drag performances in the presence of children. [xviii]
