ON THE ISSUES

REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS:

Randall has supported a variety of reproductive rights legislation in Washington, including ensuring student health plans cover abortion care, ending cost sharing, preserving access to mifepristone, blocking religious hospital mergers, extending postpartum healthcare coverage, and more.[v] She was endorsed by EMILY’s List.[vi]

IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY:

In an interview, Randall said border security is important to keep transnational criminals from trafficking humans, weapons and drugs. However, she added that it is important to recognize the importance immigrants have for communities, and to protect those communities against anti-immigrant rhetoric.[vii] In March 2019, the Washington State Senate passed the Reproductive Health Access for All Act, a bill introduced by Randall that prohibits health care discrimination on the basis of immigration or gender identity. The bill also created a state-funded program to cover family planning services for undocumented Washingtonians who would be eligible for other programs if not for their immigration status.[viii]

ECONOMY & JOBS:

Randall advocates for “an economy that works from the middle class out – not trickle down.” She supports equal pay for equal work, investing in small and mid-sized businesses, driving innovation in blockchain and the digital asset industry, and more. She also supports “comprehensive regulatory frameworks that encourage innovation while protecting consumers.”[ix]

TAXES:

On her campaign website, Randall says she supports “a tax structure that requires big business to pay its fair share.”[x] In the Washington State Senate, Randall voted for measures that raised taxes on gas, as well as for the state’s capital gains tax bill.[xi]

CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY:

In February 2021, Randall voted for a bill that would require police and sheriffs who see a fellow officer using excessive force to intervene.[xii]

CLIMATE CHANGE, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT:

Randall’s campaign platform calls for a “just and fair transition” from fossil fuels. She advocates for focusing on renewable energy, climate-neutral industry, greener transportation, and adapting the electrical grid to “the needs of a greener economy.”[xiii]

FOREIGN POLICY:

In June 2024, Randall said, “Israel has exercised its lawful right to defend itself against terrorist attacks, and has the unalienable right to do so against any future attacks from internal or external malign actors, such as Hamas or Iran […] In Congress, I will support Israel’s obligation of self-defense and our country’s support for that right.”[xiv]

HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL SAFETY NET:

Citing her family’s experience qualifying for Medicaid, Randall says she wants “to ensure that every family has these same opportunities for their loved ones.” She supports protecting and strengthening the Affordable Care Act, increasing the flexibility of Medicaid dollars, bringing down out-of-pocket drug costs, and investing in “staffing critical healthcare positions and infrastructure.”[xv] In the state Senate, Randall played a “key role” in establishing Washington’s Universal Healthcare Commission, a purported step toward the country’s strongest state-based healthcare policy. She also supported measures to lower prescription drug costs.[xvi]

DEMOCRACY:

Randall has pledged to fight to remove barriers to voting and ensure that all eligible voters have access to the ballot box. She has also touted her record of not taking corporate PAC money.[xvii]

SOCIAL ISSUES:

The first LGBTQ+ Latina ever elected to Congress, Randall was supported by Equality PAC, which invested more than $700,000 in her race.[xviii] She touts her record of expanding access to healthcare providers, including for gender affirming care.[xix]
