ON THE ISSUES

REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS:

Hunt is pro-life and commits to protecting “the rights of the unborn” while in Congress.[vii] He celebrated the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, calling it a “tremendous victory for unborn.” He added, “This crucial moral question has now returned to where it was always Constitutionally intended, with the states.”[viii] [ix] Hunt is endorsed by Texas Alliance for Life.[x]

ECONOMY, JOBS & TAXES:

Hunt has criticized the Biden administration and congressional Democrats for “wasteful spending,” arguing they are “saddling future generations with crippling levels of debts and driving up inflation to fund their liberal priorities.” In Congress, Hunt says he will “stand against these massive spending sprees and force our government to live within its means.”[xi] He opposed Build Back Better and the Inflation Reduction Act, which he called “nothing more than a Green New Deal slush fund for the climate cartel.”[xii] [xiii] He supported Trump’s 2017 tax bill and said he would vote to make the individual tax cuts permanent while in Congress.[xiv]

HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL SAFETY NET:

Ensuring access to affordable healthcare is a top priority for Hunt, and in Congress, he will “fight for reforms to increase price transparency and lower drug prices to decrease the cost of care while protecting coverage for those with pre-existing conditions.”[xv] He opposes a “government takeover” of healthcare and says he will work to “reduce government overreach because our healthcare should be shaped by doctors & patients – not DC bureaucrats.”[xvi] He strongly opposes mask and vaccine mandates.[xvii] [xviii] [xix]

IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY:

Hunt believes that “as a sovereign nation, we have a right and responsibility to maintain and defend our borders.” He has accused the Biden administration of “allowing our southern border to be overrun by cartels and drug and human smugglers,” specifically citing an influx in fentanyl trafficking.[xx] [xxi] [xxii] In Congress, he will support “fully securing our border and completing the border wall.”[xxiii] He is particularly critical of Kamala Harris in her role as “Border Czar,” claiming she had “abandoned” her responsibilities.[xxiv] [xxv]

CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY:

On his campaign website, Hunt says, “our men and women in blue risk their lives every day to keep our communities safe,” adding, “I will stand with them against the radical liberals in Congress seeking to defund then.”[xxvi] He opposes bail reform and has accused the Biden administration of ignoring “record crime” and weaponizing the FBI against Donald Trump after it raided Mar-A-Lago.[xxvii] [xxviii] [xxix]

GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS & ELECTION SECURITY:

Hunt believes “voter suppression is a lie propagated by the left in an attempt to deceive the very people Democrats have failed for generations.”[xxx] In Congress, Hunt says he will support voter ID laws and “other measures to make sure all registered voters can have faith that their vote is counted.”[xxxi] He has expressed opposition to proposed election reforms including requirements for early voting and mail-ballots, as well as reimposing the Justice Department’s ability to vet new state laws that could have a discriminatory effect on voters.[xxxii]

EDUCATION:

Hunt opposes canceling all student debt, arguing that it will further drive-up inflation and ultimately be paid for by the middle class.[xxxiii] [xxxiv] [xxxv] He notably supported President Trump’s executive order making it easier for disabled veterans to receive student loan forgiveness.[xxxvi] Hunt supports parental and school choice and strongly opposes Critical Race Theory and vaccine mandates in schools.[xxxvii] [xxxviii] [xxxix] [xl] [xli] [xlii]

CLIMATE CHANGE, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT:

Hunt opposes a Green New Deal, calling it dangerous.[xliii] He has criticized energy policies pursued by the Biden administration, including canceling construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, “attack[ing] family gas stations,” “bull[ying] American oil & gas,” and promising to eliminate fossil fuels, among others.[xliv] Hunt argues “the world is energy short because Joe Biden and his climate cartel waged war on American Energy Independence.”[xlv] Hunt supports improving flood infrastructure in his community because “hurricanes, flooding and natural disasters are a constant threat.”[xlvi]

BIG TECH & DATA PRIVACY:

Hunt asserts free speech “is the most basic pillar of a free society” and has called on Elon Musk to allow Donald Trump back onto Twitter.[xlvii] He criticized the Biden administration’s effort to establish a Disinformation Governance Board, asserting, “They’ve lost control of twitter so now the Biden Administration creates the ministry of truth. Why does this administration live in fear of the 1st Amendment?”[xlviii]

GUN SAFETY:

Hunt is a “strong supporter of the 2nd Amendments and gun owner.”[xlix] He believes “the vast majority of gun owners are responsible gun owners.”[l] Hunt argues school “should not be soft targets for evil” and that “our children deserve the same level of security as Congress.”[li] He has further argued that there is “no negotiation on the 2nd Amendment” and does not support red flag laws.[lii] He maintains an “AQ” rating with NRA and is endorsed by the gun rights organizations.[liii]

FOREIGN POLICY:

Hunt has criticized the Biden administration for providing “$14 billion to secure Ukraine’s border,” but providing “zero for ours.”[liv] He argues the US can “immediately help Ukraine by turning off Russian oil and turning on the power of the American Energy.”[lv] He has called Putin “a tyrant, a liar, and a thug,” and argued the US’ “botched withdrawal” from Afghanistan “absolutely influenced Putin’s decision to attack Ukraine.”[lvi] [lvii] Hunt has also criticized Biden for his inaction on “the rise of China,” asserting China must held accountable for “unleashing COVID” and its “genocide” of ethnic minorities.[lviii] [lix] [lx] [lxi]
